A 3-year-old girl is alive today because of the incredible courage and quick action of Spalding County first responders.
On Sunday, a car crashed into Dundee Lake.
The driver climbed out and stood on top of the sinking vehicle… leaving the toddler trapped inside, submerged underwater.
When first responders arrived, Firefighter Lt. Fetters and Spalding County Deputy Gray didn’t hesitate.
Lt Fetters dove underwater and found the little girl with Deputy Gray holding tightly onto Lt. Fetters to make sure he stayed safe in the water.
Deputy Jennifer Fuller helped bring her to the shore and to safety.
Their courage and bravery absolutely saved her.
As soon as they reached the shore, Deputy Holder began CPR right away, refusing to stop until they saw signs of life.
Deputy Zachery Whitmer jumped right in to help!
Moments later, the child’s pulse returned. She was then flown to the hospital and rushed in for treatment,
The driver now faces multiple charges, including DUI and child endangerment.
But thanks to the bravery, skill, and heart of these rescuers, this little girl has a fighting chance to grow up.
Thank you to these true heroes for showing us what courage looks like in the face of crisis. 💙
