The Com, short for "The Community" is a growing group of minors who conduct criminal activity, including swatting, extortion of minors, production and distribution of child sexual abuse material, as well as various forms of cyber crime and who are motivated by financial gain, retaliation, ideology, sexual gratification or notoriety. 

Members of the Com range between 11 and 25 years old and are estimated to number in the thousands.  Com members generally target young and impressionable individuals for recruitment using minor-friendly social media or gaming platforms.

Sanderson, Texas: Agents from the Sanderson Border Patrol Station, supported by aerial units from the Alpine Air and Marine’s Air Interdiction team, apprehended a group of eight illegal aliens a few hours ago.  This group crossed and was intercepted in one of the most unforgiving and isolated stretches along the U.S.–Mexico border—a rugged, remote area where extreme conditions challenge both those attempting the journey and the agents working to secure the border.

The Big Bend region remains particularly vulnerable to increased illegal crossing activity due to its vast, rugged terrain and isolation, posing unique and ongoing challenges for border security enforcement.

The Bronco Fire in Gila county, Arizona has grown to 18,100 acres and remains 0% contained. Southwest Incident Management Team 4 has taken command of the fire.

Crews and heavy equipment continue to build fireline through fuels that are being classified as in extreme drought due to lack of winter snow. Afternoon thunderstorms producing erratic winds have helped fuel growth as well. This fire is burning on the San Carlos Apache Reservation ground.

A homeless man in South Los Angeles is going viral after he built a three-story treehouse that was later torn down by authorities.

It reportedly included a mezzanine and an enclosed place to sleep. On Monday, KABC learned a new treehouse is being constructed.

The Columbia Missouri Police Department sadly announced the death of retired K-9 Gorrit, an 11-year-old Dutch Shepherd who dedicated nearly 7 years of service to the CPD alongside his partner, Sgt. Jamie Dowler. From 2015 to January of this year, Gorrit worked tirelessly, forming an unbreakable bond with Dowler that went far beyond police work. After his retirement, Gorrit spent his well-deserved retirement with Dowler and his family, surrounded by love and care.

Trooper Sherman was seriously injured in the line of duty in March 2025 when he was struck by a vehicle while working traffic control on Interstate 45.

“It is a privilege to be able to honor Trooper Sherman’s bravery and selfless dedication to the people of Texas in this way,” said TxDPS Colonel Freeman F. Martin. “His courage and resilience are an inspiration to all of us, and he serves as a shining example for all the men and women of this department.”

Assistant Sheriff Myron Johnson joined District Attorney Nathan Hochman and additional law enforcement leaders throughout Los Angeles County to address illegal street takeovers. These unsanctioned events are dangerous and sometimes deadly to those participating, law enforcement and the public.

Individuals who plan these street takeovers, block traffic or promote them via social media may face felony conspiracy charges.

Individuals who participate can face misdemeanor charges, including reckless driving, speed exhibition or simply being a spectator. Individuals who injure or kill someone may face felony charges.

Since January 1st 2025, department personnel have responded to 1,032 street takeover related calls throughout the county. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will continue to partner with our neighboring agencies to protect citizens and their property from these illegal events.

'ATTACK' ON CORRECTIONS OFFICERS:

Four correctional officers were hurt after a man incarcerated at Minnesota's Rush City Correctional Facility allegedly stabbed one of them with a shank (a sharp, homemade weapon). Three others were bruised during subsequent efforts to subdue and restrain the man, according to the MN Department of Corrections.

On Sunday, August 10, 2025, at approximately 2:40 a.m., Laredo Police officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Los Estribos Drive regarding a report of an individual with a gunshot injury.

Upon arrival, officers located a victim, identified as an off-duty Laredo Police Officer, with a critical injury, who was transported to a local hospital and later transferred to a San Antonio facility for advanced medical care.

The Laredo Police Department's Criminal Investigations Bureau-CAPERS is conducting a thorough investigation. Preliminary findings indicate the injury was self-inflicted.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured officer and their loved ones during this difficult time. We remain committed to providing support to those affected.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
