Fontana Police Department will be holding a Celebration of Life to honor the legacy and service of K9 Officer Edward Bautista.

Doors open at 1030 hours

The service will be limited to law enforcement personnel, both sworn and non-sworn, and their immediate family. Outside agencies are welcomed to attend.

R.I.: Police are investigating an apparent incident that happened at North Kingstown Town Beach Friday evening.

12 News has confirmed that a North Kingstown officer was injured in the incident. The officer’s injuries are not believed to be serious.

It appears that a car with a shattered back windshield crashed into a pole off Beach Street, which leads to North Kingstown Town Beach.

It’s unclear exactly what happened. 12 News has learned that at least one shot was fired, and that the injured officer was not shot.

Ohio: A man and woman were killed in a crash involving an Ohio State Highway Patrol cruiser Thursday afternoon in Athens County.

OSHP says that a trooper was attempting to catch up to a vehicle that reportedly made a traffic violation on U.S. Route 50 around 2:05 p.m.

When the trooper was pursuing the vehicle, a Toyota Prius heading westbound on Route 50 attempted to cross eastbound lanes onto Fisher Road. The cruiser and Toyota collided, according to OSHP.

The trooper involved in the crash sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Retired K9 Barney, who served with the Nevada Highway Patrol from 2011 to 2018, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 15, following a long and well-lived life.

Barney served as a drug detection K9 with his partner, retired Sergeant Dice. Together, they made a lasting impact by helping to remove illegal drugs from communities across Nevada.

After Barney’s retirement, he was adopted by Sergeant Dice—his trusted partner and first handler—who had retired from service earlier.
Throughout his career, K9 Barney earned recognition for his skill and dedication, including a second-place finish in the K9 trials. He was a steadfast and valued member of the team.

Thank you for your loyal service, K9 Barney. Rest well. Our thoughts are with retired Sergeant Dice and his family.
