Sacramento County Sheriffβs Podcast - Ep:16- Justice for Jeff
On the quiet morning of October 27, 2006, Sacramento County Deputy Jeff Mitchell made what seemed like a routine traffic stop on a rural road. At 3:30 a.m., he radioed in that he was pulling over a white Chevrolet van. Moments later, Deputy Mitchell stopped responding to dispatch.
When fellow officers arrived at the scene, they found him mortally woundedβshot in the head with his own service weapon after what appeared to be a violent struggle. Nearly two decades later, his killer remains unidentified.
In this episode, we revisit that tragic morning with Detective Turnbull and Jeffβs sister, Kim Gervasoni, who share the heartbreaking details, ongoing investigation, and a plea for answers.
Someone out there knows something. If that someone is you, call 916-874-8477.
A $250,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Jeff Mitchellβs killer.
