NEW: US Attorney Bill Essayli joined me to discuss his decision to arrest two SoCal medical workers on federal charges of interfering w/ ICE.

“The politicians in California have emboldened people to stand up to ICE, they think it’s okay to interfere or obstruct,” Essayli said. “We’ve said this over and over again, if you get in our way, if you lay a hand on a federal agent, you will be arrested and you will be charged.”

I asked if these federal charges are too heavy handed for these medical workers?

“No, it’s the opposite,” Essayli told me. “We have to charge these cases. We have to set an example. We have to enforce the rule of law. Federal agents are off limits. Do not touch them.”

Lorain Acting Police Chief Michael Failing released new information on two of the three officers who were injured in an ambush in Lorain, Ohio.

According to Failing, Officer Brent Payne went into surgery for several hours. Afterwards, Payne insisted on going down to the hospital wall to watch his fellow officer, Phillip Wagner, who died from his injuries, be taken from the hospital. He still has five-six surgeries to come, Failing said.

According to Failing, Officer Peter Gale now has a hand wound with several broken bones. He also said Gale will be out of work for a while.

BREAKING: Los Angeles County Sheriff announces a policy change in the wake of the deadly grenade explosion: all future explosives found will be treated as "live."

Sheriff Luna says the ATF will provide a final report on the investigation in 45 days.

One of two grenades that were recovered from a Santa Monica garage prior to an explosion that killed three Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies last week is missing, officials said Friday.

The LA County Sheriff's Department also confirmed that the other grenade is what detonated and killed the three deputies at the Biscailuz Training Facility in East LA, the morning after the explosive devices were recovered and believed to be inert.

On Saturday, the Texas Legislature is scheduled to start a series of hearings during a special legislative session ordered by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott. Among the items under consideration is whether the state should redraw its congressional districts. President Donald Trump has asked the state's Republican leaders to secure more seats for the party in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 election by redrawing district lines this year. 

Newsom hosted six Democratic Texas state lawmakers at the governor's mansion in Sacramento Friday afternoon, including Representatives Rafael Anchía, Chris Turner, Barbara Gervin Hawkins, Ana-Maria Ramos, Ramon Romero, and Nicole Collier.  Following the meeting, Newsom discussed the options he's considering to try to get California to take the same action as Texas, but for Democrats."
