NEW: ICE Los Angeles arrested Naeem Riaz Tyab, 59, a Canadian national, for immigration violations, July 17.  Tyab has a criminal conviction for Conspiracy - to Violate the Foreign Corrupt Practice Act and was sentenced to 36 months in prison. He is in ICE custody pending removal.

We proudly recognize Trooper Darrelle Jacobs of Troop C as our April 2025 Trooper of the Month.

On April 8, a fatal hit-and-run occurred on I-75 when a vehicle struck a disabled semi-truck and fatally injured the driver’s brother, who had stopped to help. The suspect fled the scene, but Trooper Jacobs immediately responded. Trusting his instincts, he canvassed local areas and located the suspect and vehicle at a gas station, detaining the driver before they could flee the state.

Trooper Jacobs’ swift action and attention to detail ensured justice for the victim and peace of mind for the community. His dedication reflects the core values of the Florida Highway Patrol.

NEW: It appears another hoax has been attempted. Family members of an 82-year-old Chilean man in PA went to the media claiming ICE arrested him while renewing a green card in Philly, that he died in ICE custody, then that he was secretly deported to Guatemala. The story went viral online.

It appears to have been all made up by the family, which has since gone dark and stopped responding to the press. Here's what happened since the story first ran in The Morning Call, an Allentown, PA newspaper.

- Records in Chile show a man with his same name and date of birth died in Chile in 2019.

- Guatemala says they have no record of him being deported to their country.

- DHS says there is no record of him appearing at any green card appointment in the Philly area, and they say ICE never arrested him.

- DHS says they never deported him, and their only record of him entering the US is in 2015 from Chile via the visa waiver program, not an asylum grant from the 1980s as the family claimed.

- His granddaughter claimed he was sick in a Guatemalan hospital with pneumonia after ICE deported him, and that he was traumatized (after first claiming he was dead). A doctor at the hospital she claimed he was at says there is no record of him being there.

NEW: ICE Los Angeles arrested Quan Nguyen, 54, a Vietnamese national, for immigration violations, July 17. Nguyen has a criminal conviction for assault with a deadly weapon and arrests for attempted murder and felony parole violations. Nguyen is in ICE custody pending removal.

On Monday, July 21, 2025, a high-speed pursuit initiated by the California Highway Patrol in Canoga Park concluded with an arrest near the Sepulveda Boulevard exit off the 405 Freeway. The chase began in the early evening when CHP officers attempted to stop a suspect vehicle for reasons not yet disclosed by authorities.

The pursuit wound through Canoga Park streets circling the Topanga mall before entering the 101 Freeway, taking officers on a 30 minute pursuit. The suspect briefly evaded officers at high speeds but was being tracked by helicopter and CHP units, supported by additional patrol vehicles, tracked the vehicle to the Sepulveda Boulevard off-ramp, where the suspect was apprehended without further incident. No injuries were reported, and the freeway remained open, though traffic was temporarily slowed in the area.

In a major victory for the Department of Justice, the city of Louisville is dropping its sanctuary city policies as a result of a strong written warning from my office.

This should set an example to other cities. Instead of forcing us to sue you — which we will, without hesitation — follow the law, get rid of sanctuary policies, and work with us to fix the illegal immigration crisis.
