BREAKING: Five people in Louisiana, including three police chiefs and a local "business leader," worked together to falsify police reports and commit immigration fraud, according to a 62-count indictment from the Western District of Louisiana’s U.S. Attorney’s Office via News Nation

Basically, a scheme going back to 2015 went like this: Immigrants who wanted to stay in the U.S. paid a businessman—That businessman paid police chiefs to make up crimes, then claim the immigrants were either victims or witnesses of the crimes.
Victims and witnesses of crimes are not deported—they can be granted U-Visas.

SOME ARE BLAMING THE POLICE: Investigators report that a suspect died after being restrained by Haverhill Police officers outside a restaurant in an incident captured on video.

According to the Essex County District Attorney's Office, another man has been arrested and accused of selling drugs to the individual before his death. Witnesses told police that the suspect smoked crack cocaine between 5:10 p.m. and 6:17 p.m. and 'began to freak out within seconds of smoking it.'"

SHERIFF’S K9 DEATH: The Dade County Sheriff's Office in Trenton, Georgia, has fired a deputy after a police dog named Georgia, a bloodhound, died in a hot patrol car on Sunday.

According to officials, the deputy left Georgia alone in the vehicle with a malfunctioning air conditioning compressor and a non-functional heat alarm, while the heat index soared to 100-102°F.

The sheriff's office has promised to take steps to prevent such tragedies in the future, including taking K-9 vehicles out of service if essential equipment isn't in working order and not leaving police dogs in vehicles for extended periods during summer.
