CAPTURED: Benjamin Hanil Song, a subject wanted by the FBI for attempted murder of law enforcement officers at the Prairieland Detention Center in Texas on July 4th.

Song and multiple other subjects allegedly shot fireworks toward the detention center to lure officers out of the facility, and then targeted the officers in a shooting.

Song was arrested this afternoon and is the 14th arrest in the case.

Attack cops, and this FBI will stop at nothing to find you.

We wanted to share some good news—our officer who was injured in the recent squad accident is back in the station today! He’ll be working light duty for now while he continues his recovery under the care of his doctors.

UPDATE: The man confronted and detained by hikers has been identified has Andrew Ocalliham (43). 

Hikers say he started a fire Sunday along LA’s popular Runyon Canyon trail.  They detained him for more than an hour before authorities arrived and arrested him.

According to online records, Ocalliham lives in Santa Monica, CA and has been arrested more than 15 times since July 2020.  Including for charges like robbery, vandalism, theft, and possession of controlled substances.

A spokesperson from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office tells me, “[Occalliham] was charged today with one count of PC 451 (c), arson of forest land, a felony.

Michigan: Wayne County’s Fugitive Apprehension Services Team, known as ‘FAST’, continues to lead the charge in taking violent criminals off the streets.

The task force, made up of Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies and Detroit police officers, carries out daily warrant sweeps.MDN rode along with the Wayne County FAST Team early this morning as they hit the streets searching for wanted individuals. Their focus is on dangerous offenders: those connected to shootings, gun-crimes, s*x-offenses, car thefts & more.The team made more than 1,040 warrant arrests in 2024. FAST members begin their day with early morning briefings before heading out to locate fugitives. Their work is credited with helping bring down the number of homicides and shootings in recent years in Detroit.The team also played a key role last week in apprehending the man charged in the downtown Detroit fireworks shooting.

The unit was created together by Wayne County Executive Warren Evans and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, and is now considered one of the most active fugitive teams in the region.For FAST, It’s not about locking up everyone, but specifically targeting those who continue to commit acts of violence in the community.

NEW: A Walgreens store manager was convicted of assaulting a shoplifter who stole shampoo in San Francisco, the district attorney’s office said.

Following a trial, jurors found the Walgreens manager, 46-year-old Guang Hong, guilty for a violent March 19 incident at the store.

San Francisco shop owners have struggled to deter and thwart shoplifters in recent years. District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said Monday, “Although I understand the frustration and anger in the community, violence is unacceptable and only makes matters worse.”

The shoplifter, 30-year-old Larry Whitlock, walked into the store before 5 a.m. and stole one bottle of shampoo. “As he was leaving, the security guard alerted Mr. Hong, the Walgreens manager, of the theft,” the DA’s Office wrote.

Hong recovered the stolen shampoo bottle and Whitlock left the Walgreens, located at 498 Castro Street, according to prosecutors. About a minute later, Hong noticed that the shoplifter was still outside of the store.

Hong placed his keys between his knuckles and punched the shoplifter in the face while shouting at him, prosecutors said.

“Mr. Hong then punched the victim two more times with his keys in his hand and kicked the victim as he fell to the ground,” the DA’s Office wrote.

Whitlock was charged with petty theft and battery. Hong was charged with assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury.

Assistant District Attorney Max Draskovich said, “Store theft is an important issue, but it does not justify an assault that goes beyond self-defense. Mr. Hong’s response went far beyond self-defense, and we are thankful that the jury rightly held him accountable. Justice means upholding the law for everyone, on both sides of the incident.”

Hong, who is currently out of custody, is scheduled to be sentenced on August 15.

OUTRAGE IN WINGATE, NC: Officer Eric Tallent who is Battling Brain Cancer, Received a Termination Letter From The Wingate Police Department.

The timing of this decision has raised more questions than answers, especially since it came just one day before a crucial town meeting to discuss the police department's future. Advocates are questioning whether Tallent's illness played a role in the department's decision. To make matters worse, while other officers will receive severance packages, Tallent has been told he won't be included. As we stand with Officer Tallent and his family during this challenging time, we can't help but think of other heroes who've faced similar battles.
