NJ Transit bus driver charged after police officer is seriously injured.
Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II said a marked vehicle driven by Roseland police officer Marc Miller was hit by the NJ Transit bus that sped through a red light on June 20 at the intersection of Livington Avenue and Prudential Drive at 4:10 p.m.
Miller was taken by medical helicopter to University Hospital with serious injuries.
The bus driver, Djimmy Evra, 40, of Orange, and three passengers were hospitalized with minor injuries. Evra is charged with fourth-degree assault by auto and related offenses.
“The investigation indicates that this was a senseless accident which could have been avoided. Reckless driving puts lives at risk, and we will hold anyone accountable who endangers public safety whether they are behind the wheel of a personal vehicle or public transportation," Stephens said in a statement.

NEW: Rhode Island Democratic state representative Enrique Sanchez calls ICE "Nazi Gestapo thugs" in social media posts criticizing ICE's "kidnapping of our neighbor" in Providence, RI, which he calls an "act of terror", adding that "Providence doesn't want ICE thugs in our city."
The "neighbor" ended up being a MS-13 gang member facing fentanyl charges.
Sanchez posted a series of photos alleging that ICE damaged vehicles during the arrest. I reached out to ICE contacts to ask what happened here.
Three ICE sources with knowledge of this incident tell FoxNews the following:
ICE was targeting a Honduran known MS-13 gang member, IVAN RENE-MENDOZA MEZA, who had pending local charges in RI for fentanyl trafficking and had been released from local custody with ICE's detainer ignored due to sanctuary policies. I'm told it was the 6th District Court in RI that ignored ICE's detainer.
When ICE agents attempted a traffic stop to arrest MENDOZA MEZA, he struck ICE vehicles before bailing out of his car and running into an apartment. He was surrounded and eventually surrendered. I'm told it was ICE vehicles and his own car that were damaged.

In a statement to FOX, ICE is blasting Rep. Enrique Sanchez for his social media posts calling ICE "Nazi Gestapo thugs" over the incident, which were posted on Instagram, Facebook, and X:
"Mr. Sanchez thinks so little of his community he refers to ruthless MS-13 as "neighbors". What say you, Providence? The only thugs we see are the illegal terrorist gangbangers we are trying to remove from the neighborhoods of Providence."

New York: An officer-involved shooting in Amherst is under investigation after a police officer and man were injured during the response to a reported domestic disturbance around 5 p.m. Saturday, police announced.
Officials said police responded to the scene at a residence on the 4800 block of Bailey Avenue, where they found an adult male suspect armed with a knife.
Police said the suspect stabbed one of the responding officers, and separate officer shot the suspect in response.
Both the officer and suspect were transported to ECMC for treatment, where the suspect remains in stable condition under police custody. The officer was treated for stab wounds and released.
