This insane video is likely one of the few true fire tornadoes ever captured on camera.
The footage is from the Deer Creek Fire in San Juan County, Utah, yesterday, July 12, 2025.
The video shows a multi-vortex fire-induced tornado with radar indicating a strong rotational couplet up to 6,000 feet in the storm.
This is much different than a "fire whirl" you see often on fires, which are more akin to dust devils that are short-lived, weaker, and do not extend to the cloud base of the wildfire/pyroconvective plume.
Future scientific studies will be conducted on this event.
