The Canadian teenagers who killed Australian Lucas Fowler and his American girlfriend Chyna Deese spent their last days dying a slow and painful death in the wilderness. Bryer Schmegelsky and Kam McLeod, both 19, were found dead by police on Thursday, about 1km from the banks of the Nelson River, near the small town of Gillam - the centre of the manhunt for the past two weeks. The desperate three-week search stretching 5,000km across Canada - longer than the distance between Sydney and Perth - ended in thick, predator-infested scrub.

A 33-year-old Hispanic man has been arrested outside a California 7-11 after stabbing and robbing his way across two cities in a bloody rampage that killed four people and seriously injured two others. The man, who hasn't been identified, was taken into custody by multiple officers on Wednesday evening as he walked out of the convenience store in Santa Ana. He dropped a knife and gun he had taken from a security guard he had just killed as he was surrounded by police. Police say the man robbed more than half a dozen businesses and killed two men at his own apartment complex during the two-hour wave of violence earlier in the day. He also killed the security guard and a male worker at a Subway restaurant. The man seriously injured a female bank employee during his crime spree and stabbed a man - nearly severing his nose off - while he was pumping gas. 👮🏻‍♂️

Chinese state media have called a Hong Kong policeman a hero after footage and images of him pointing a gun at protesters caused controversy. The clash took place on July 30 outside Kwai Chung police station when protesters gathered to show support for dozens of activists who had been arrested and charged with rioting. Beijing's state broadcaster CCTV lauded the policeman's dedication and professionalism in dealing with the chaos. A female anchor gave him a thumbs-up while saying ''Lau Sir, we support you!' 👮🏻‍♂️

The stats were compiled using government data and firm HowMuch.net added together the cost of gas, maintenance, public transportation, and other expenses. However, the annual cost of commuting varies widely depending on what state you live in. North Dakota had the most expensive commute, costing on average $5,059.113. On the other end of the scale, West Virginia had the cheapest, with people spending $2,003.812 on their annual commute. An earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 6.0 has hit western Turkey, damaging homes and causing some injuries. The quake was centred on the town of Bozkurt, in Denizli province, which lies just over 100 miles from tourist hotspot Marmaris. Scores of buildings are said to have been damaged and there are reports of people running into the streets in panic. The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency said the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 6.0 and struck at 2.25pm local time. 😱

Pittsburgh Police Chief Scott Schubert says the officer was checking on the first woman's well-being Thursday on a crowded sidewalk full of office workers and others headed to lunch. A man came up from behind him and stabbed her. He then stabbed the other woman. Schubert says the officer immediately took the man into custody and applied first aid to the first woman. She later died. The second victim suffered minor injuries.😱

Three people have died after the small plane they were in crashed into the backyard of a suburban Philadelphia home. The single-engine plane went down around 6.20am on Thursday in Willow Grove shortly after taking off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport.
