A suspected hit-and-run driver has been arrested after allegedly hitting and injuring a sheriff's deputy in Moreno Valley, California.
The incident happened just after 9 p.m. Wednesday near the area of Indian Street and Alessandro Boulevard, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
The deputy was responding to an assault with a deadly weapon call when they were struck by a car that drove away from the scene.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the suspect was later found down the street at an apartment complex. He was arrested for felony hit-and-run.
The injured deputy was rushed to the hospital but is expected to be released some time Thursday.

BREAKING: CBP executed a federal search warrant today at a human smuggling hub in Los Angeles tied to national security threats. Two individuals were arrested during the operation, which was led by CBP’s Special Response Team with support from Border Patrol tactical units and Air and Marine Operations.

Texas: The victim in a two vehicle fatal crash with an Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office Deputy has been identified as a San Antonio woman.
The fatal crash occurred at 4:22 p.m. at the El Rucio Road and U.S. 281 intersection in the Linn-San Manuel area.
According to Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra, the deputy was traveling northbound and was sideswiped by the box truck.
Sheriff Guerra confirmed the driver of the box truck died at the scene. The driver was identified as Casandra Nicole Chavez Martinez, 25, a San Antonio resident.
The deputy involved was transported to Doctors Hospital at Renaissance with minor injuries.

Los Angeles: On May 12, 2025, around 9:30 p.m., West Valley Patrol Division uniformed officers responded to a call of an Assault with a Deadly Weapon (ADW). The comments of the call indicated the suspect was armed with a knife and frying pan in an apartment complex, located in the 6200 block of Reseda Boulevard. As officers arrived, they saw the suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Rafiullah Erfan, in an agitated state, yelling from the window of his first-floor apartment. Erfan then used a frying pan to break the glass of his apartment window. Officers broadcast a backup request, and additional units arrived at the scene.
Officers formulated a tactical plan and entered the courtyard area of the apartment complex.
As officers entered the courtyard, Erfan ran toward the officers, armed with a knife, resulting in a TASER deployment and an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS). Erfan was struck by gunfire and fell onto the pavement, where he was taken into custody. Erfan was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot wound. Erfan was booked as for 245(C) PC-ADW on a Peace Officer, booking number 7015426.
No officers or community members were injured during this incident.
A black handled 5-inch kitchen knife was recovered from the scene and booked as evidence.
Force Investigation Division (FID) investigators responded to the scene and are investigating this incident.

Los Angeles: On May 16, 2025, around 12:55 p.m., Foothill Patrol Division uniformed officers responded to a call of an Assault with a Deadly Weapon (ADW) in the 7800 block of Beck Avenue. The comments of the call indicated the suspect, 23-year-old Jose Gonzalez Ramos, had stabbed his wife multiple times. When officers arrived at the multi-unit property, they were directed by witnesses to a pathway that ran between units. There, they encountered Ramos, who was advancing toward the officers with a knife raised in his right hand, resulting in an Officer Involved Shooting (OIS) and the deployment of a 40mm less lethal launcher. Ramos was struck by gunfire and fell to the ground, where he was taken into custody.
After the OIS, officers continued down the pathway, where they found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. The Los Angeles Fire Department transported both Ramos and the stabbing victim to a local hospital, where they both died from their injuries.
A knife was recovered from next to Ramos and booked as evidence.
No officers or additional community members were injured during this incident.

Young, Sheriff, Florida sadly announced the death of former Reserve Deputy Thomas "Tom" Murray, a distinguished law enforcement officer, who began his career in New Jersey prior to becoming a police officer at the Quincy Public Safety Department (Former Lieutenant). Cordova Fire and Rescue, a fire department in Richmond County, N.C. sadly announced the death of Gabriel Ennis, a Junior Firefighter. He was 16, when he was killed in a shooting. It's unclear what led to the shooting. Authorities have not said if anyone will face charges for Ennis' death. The Fire Department called the incident a tragic accident.
