FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: The Los Angeles Sheriffs’ Professional Association (LASPA), representing thousands of deputies across Los Angeles County, is calling for the immediate resignation of Cudahy Vice Mayor Cynthia Gonzalez following her recent public comments encouraging criminal street gang members to “stand up” in response to immigration enforcement.

Encouraging gang involvement in political protest, particularly in the context of immigration raids, is morally reprehensible, dangerously irresponsible, and an outrageous violation of the public trust. It represents a complete obfuscation of her oath of office, an abandonment of her duty to protect public safety, and a reckless provocation that could put both law enforcement and residents at direct risk.
