California: The Santa Monica Police Department is actively managing an ongoing incident following a shooting. The suspect remains at large, and a coordinated search is underway. We ask members of the public to avoid the area near Santa Monica Place (4th St & Colorado) to allow emergency personnel to respond safely and efficiently.

One of our officers sustained injuries during the incident and was transported to a local hospital for medical care.

This remains an evolving situation. Additional details will be shared as they are confirmed and when appropriate to do so.

We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we work to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

NEW: The hearing for Kilmar Abrego Garcia adjourned with Abrego Garcia remaining in USMarshalsHQ custody.

Attorneys for both sides conferred with the judge—Defense counsel wanted to make sure when he is released from custody that he will be housed somewhere near Middle Tennessee—Abrego Garcia will not be released from Marshals custody just yet.

Defense counsel has until mid-day tomorrow to file their briefs. The U.S. Attorney’s Office will have until midday Friday—per the judge.

Bequette is charged with tampering with a motor vehicle and stealing after the Missouri State Highway Patrol filed charges after he stole the skid steer, which should have gone to the deceased man’s two adult children.
