To be honest, this one hurts.
Many of us were watching last night when Knox County Sheriff's Office (Tennessee, not Maine) Deputy Dalton Swanger was viciously attacked in on live TV during On Patrol: Live. What started as a shots fired call ended with a senseless act of violence that left Deputy Swanger critically injuredโฆand left thousands of viewers, officers, and families across the country stunned.
While clearing the area, he was struck in the head by a rock or brick thrown by a suspect, an act of violence so sudden and so vicious it left him critically injured.
No warning. No time to react. Just an ambush captured live on national television.
To say it shook us would be an understatement. It is a reminder, seen in real time by a nationwide audience, of just how fast things can change in this job. One second you are handling a call. The next, your brothers and sisters are dragging you to safetyโฆpraying for you to open your eyesโฆhoping you can get up. Last night, Deputy Swanger could not. Not after the blow that struck him.
And yet, in the moments that followed, his fellow deputies stepped up without hesitation. They dragged him out. Rendered aid. Took control of the chaos. That kind of response is instinct. It is training. But most of all, it is heart.
Deputy Swanger remains in critical condition this afternoon. Knox County Sheriffโs Office is working hard to keep everyone updated. Our thoughts, our prayers, and every bit of support we have is with Deputy Swanger, his family, and the Knox County team.
This was an attack on one of our own. An attack on the uniform. It is a reality check for every officer out there that the dangers are always real, always present, and no one is immune.
To the public, know thisโฆofficers across the country watched this unfold in real time, powerless to change the outcome, but united in the weight of it. We felt it in our stomachs. We felt it in our chest. We felt it because we know what it means to walk into the unknown with only your training and your partners beside you.
We will not stop doing the job. We will not stop standing together. We will not stop training to protect each other and the public.
When you ask why law enforcement sometimes takes control of a situation quickly and with force, this is why. Because danger can come without warning. Because if we hesitate, it can cost lives. It will not always look pretty or friendly, but it is done to prevent moments like this one.
For now, Deputy Swanger, we are all behind you. We are with you in thought and in prayer.๐๐ป

BREAKING: Active shooter reported outside Church in Wayne, Michigan. The suspect was shot and killed by a church security guard. Details: http://themetrodetroitnews.com/active-shooter-reporter-outside-church-in-wayne Our leadership and support teams areโฆ
UPDATE: Authorities have identified the suspect involved in Sundayโs attempted shooting at CrossPointe Community Church as 31-year-old Brian Browning, a white male from Romulus, Michigan.
Browning was fatally shot by a church security guard after allegedly attempting to carry out a violent attack during a morning worship service.
The incident occurred just after 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2025, during a special Vacation Bible School service attended by approximately 150 congregants, including many children.
The church is located at 36125 Glenwood Road in Wayne, between South Wayne and South Newburgh roads.
According to Senior Pastor Bobby Kelly Jr., the suspect arrived at the church wearing military-style gear and was visibly armed.
A church memberโidentified as a deaconโspotted Browning approaching the building and acted quickly, striking him with a vehicle in the church parking lot to delay the attack. This decisive action gave a trained church security guard time to respond and engage the suspect.
The armed security guard then shot and killed Browning before he was able to enter the building.
The guard, however, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg during the exchange. He is expected to recover.
No other injuries were reported among congregants.

Sadly, we just had a drowning and we recovered the individual in 55 foot deep water. With the onset of warmer weather and a substantial increase in water activity, we urge people to employ flotation devices and wear them if they are not strong swimmers, irrespective of the situation. Additionally, it is crucial to have life-saving equipment on board boats to rescue individuals in distress. A enjoyable day on the water can rapidly become a tragic moment.
