South Carolina: A Richland County deputy and a civilian driver were injured Tuesday morning when another car crashed into them during a traffic stop, officials said.

The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of Two Notch Road and Polo Road.

According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Muhammad had pulled over a burgundy sedan that was missing a license plate.

While both the deputy and the driver stayed in their vehicles, a black Acura hit the civilian’s car head-on, pushing it into Deputy Muhammad’s patrol vehicle.

Emergency medical services treated both the deputy and the person at the scene.

The Coalition for Human Immigrant’ Rights, or CHIRLA, an advocacy group at the center of the anti-ICE protests in L.A., sponsored a political action committee called Immigrant Power PAC, which donated a total of $471,000 to the Million Voter Project opposing the recall of Governor Gavin Newsom in 2021, according to California election filings. 

CHIRLA Executive Director Angelica Salas served as treasurer of Immigrant Power PAC, while also managing an army of CHIRLA volunteers who fought against Newsom’s recall.

The Million Voter Project in recent days helped promote an “urgent call to action” to its supporters for an “emergency rally” in downtown L.A. to call out the “reckless, harmful, and dangerous actions that ICE, police and other agencies collaborating with them are using to invade California schools and workplaces.”

Massachusetts State Police trooper was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash early Tuesday morning on the Mass Pike (I-90) westbound, near exit 51 in Chicopee. The incident occurred at approximately 2:20 a.m. while the trooper was conducting a motor vehicle stop.

According to officials, a driver struck the trooper at the roadside and fled the scene. Emergency personnel from Troop B, along with local fire crews, responded immediately. All westbound lanes were closed as crews rendered aid and secured the scene.

The injured trooper was transported by EMS to Baystate Medical Center, a level 1 trauma facility. While the trooper’s name has not been released, authorities have confirmed the injuries are serious. A suspect connected to the hit-and-run has since been taken into custody, though further details have not yet been made public.
