Minnesota: A St. Louis County Deputy was assaulted Monday while confronting someone deemed suspicious.
At about 1:15 p.m., a county deputy responded to a report of a suspicious man near the intersection of Willard Road and Howard Gnesen Road.
That’s right across the street from Homecroft Elementary School.
While the deputy attempted to arrest the man, the man allegedly began to physically assault the deputy and managed to “aggressively strangle” the deputy, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy involved in the assault was treated and released from a medical facility.

Georgia: A Rome man is facing a laundry list of charges after deputies said he led them on a chase last week.
Floyd County officials said it all happened on May 21 near a home on Tumlin Drive in Rome.
Authorities said Marco Garza began shooting at a woman and hitting her in the head with a pistol. Deputies said he then pistol-whipped the victim.
When deputies arrived, Garza intentionally rammed his truck into two deputies’ patrol vehicles during a chase.

Morrow County Sheriff Don Hinton said a deputy was shot in an altercation with a suspect. Hinton said the deputy was transported to an area hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The suspect is in serious condition.
Hinton said the deputy responded to the 100 block of County Road 26 on reports of a domestic disturbance. He said the situation led to the officer involved shooting, and the suspect was also shot.

On Memorial Day, a day reserved to honor those who gave their lives in service to this nation, tragedy struck again. A Morrow County (OH) Sheriff’s deputy was shot and killed handling a domestic violence call in Marengo, Ohio.
This marks the second Ohio law enforcement officer murdered in the line of duty this month. Just weeks earlier, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office deputy Larry Henderson was intentionally struck by a vehicle while working a traffic detail during a college commencement ceremony.

Nathaniel “Nate” Ansay was killed in a crash on Olanta Highway on May 20.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Florence Baptist Temple on 2308 S. Irby Street.
The burial service will follow at 3 p.m. in the Florence Memorial Gardens at 3320 S. Cashua Drive. 🙏🏽

Morrow County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Daniel Weston Sherrer was killed in the line of duty on May 26, 2025 while responding to a domestic situation.
Daniel was 31 years old and joined the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office on May 16, 2021. He is survived by his parents and numerous loved ones.
The Sheriff’s Office is grateful for the outpouring of support from our community and fellow law enforcement officers across the state and country. Our county is a closely-tied community which has always supported its law enforcement agencies and that backing is evident during this time of grief. The many expressions of thoughts and prayers for the Sherrer family and our office are greatly appreciated.
