The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Honors the Life and Service of Sergeant Christopher M. Bracks – End of Watch: May 10, 2022

On May 10, 2022, while participating in the National Police Week Unity Tour in New Jersey, Sergeant Christopher M. Bracks tragically passed away following a medical emergency. Sergeant Bracks was a devoted husband, father, friend, Marine, and a proud 16-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

He began his distinguished career as a deputy on April 12, 2006, and faithfully served in various assignments, including Twin Towers Correctional Facility, Lakewood Station, the COPS Bureau, and Transit Services Bureau. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on July 24, 2016, serving at Twin Towers Correctional Facility and later at the Walnut/Diamond Bar Station—his final assignment.

Prior to his service with our department, Sergeant Bracks honorably served six years in the United States Marine Corps. He will always be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his community—as a loving husband and father, a proud veteran, and a respected and courageous peace officer.

The Police Unity Tour is a four-day bicycle ride from New Jersey to Washington, D.C., held to raise public awareness about law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. It is a powerful tradition in which officers from across the nation unite to ensure their legacy is never forgotten.

We remain deeply grateful for Sergeant Bracks’ service, and we honor his memory with the utmost respect and admiration.

An Idaho State Police trooper and another driver were injured in a collision in Idaho Falls Friday night.

It happened around 10 p.m. on Yellowstone Highway and Pancheri Drive as the trooper was in pursuit of a different vehicle than the one it collided with, said Sgt. Bryan Lovell with the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.

Initially, the trooper attempted to stop a vehicle associated with a felony warrant, but the suspect fled at a high rate of speed, avoiding multiple spike strips during the ISP pursuit.

It was during that chase when both the trooper and the other driver were injured. The trooper was treated and released on the scene, and the other driver was taken to a nearby hospital. Both are believed to have sustained only minor injuries.

NEW: ICE Denver arrested Oscar Diaz-Flores, 24, an illegal alien from Honduras May 8. During his arrest he was found with 3.15lbs of fentanyl powder, 1k fake pills, 41g of meth, a stolen gun & large amount of U.S. currency. He will remain in ICE custody pending immigration hearing.

As the LASD Family passed through Delaware Township on the 2025 police unity tour, they stopped to remember the profound loss our Department endured three years ago when Sergeant Christopher M. Bracks suffered a sudden medical emergency and tragically passed away.

Thanks to the heartfelt efforts of the Delaware Township Police, the Hunterdon County PBA, and a community of dedicated supporters, a beautiful memorial was built in Sgt. Bracks’ honor. Their commitment to maintaining this tribute ensures that his legacy continues.

It was profoundly moving to see state and local law enforcement officers, firefighters, and our brothers and sisters from the Police Unity Tour come together to honor Sgt. Bracks and show their continued support to his family. His memory remains a source of strength and unity for us all.

After the decision by the jury was announced, Shelby County Criminal Court Judge James Jones Jr. ordered the three men to be released immediately. However, the former officers are still on the hook for federal convictions connected to the incident.

The Orange County Fire Authority, California, sadly announced the death of first Fire Chief Chief Larry Holms.  He died peacefully this week at his daughter’s home, surrounded by loved ones, after a brief illness.
