NEW: A manhunt is underway for a capital murder suspect out on bond twice.

This as Gov. Greg Abbott is pushing Texas democrats to pass bail reform measures that would require  judges to deny bail for certain violent crimes like murder and rape.  The Kaufman County District Attorney believes the bail reform could have kept Trevor McEuen behind bars, and at his murder trial instead of on the run.

The Texas Rangers are investigating an officer involved shooting in Castro County.

The shooting happened around 11:00 a.m. when a Castro County Sheriff's Office Deputy responded to a person trespassing on a home at FM Road 1055.

The deputy then located the suspect, Lierme Reyes, 34, and gunfire was exchanged between Reyes and the deputy.

According to the Texas Municipal Police Association, a Castro County deputy was shot in the line of duty. But the round did not penetrate his bullet proof vest.

According to DPS, both Reyes and the officer were injured during the shooting and taken to a local hospital.

Reyes died at the hospital from his injuries, and the deputy is currently recovering.

BREAKING: BART system abruptly shuts down, stranding commuters.

The Bay Area's heavily used public transit network shut down early Friday morning, leaving many who rely on it with no way of getting to where they need to go. 

Bay Area Rapid Transit, more commonly known as BART, stopped running due to a computer networking system, according to a social media post by the agency.
