NEW: A missing girl was found during the arrest of a human trafficking suspect in Los Angeles, police announced Monday.

The Anaheim Police Department said the investigation into this case began on April 28, when the 17-year-old victim was reported missing from her Irvine home.

Orange County investigators learned that the teen, whose identity was not released, was possibly being exploited for purposes of commercialized sex.

NEW: Another round of violence erupted Sunday on the campus of the South Dakota State Penitentiary, the Department of Corrections has confirmed.

The fight between inmates came a little more than a month after two other incidents on the penitentiary campus, one of which injured a female correctional officer.

Those earlier events occurred shortly before the first meeting of a state work group debating the future of the oldest portions of the 144-year-old prison grounds in Sioux Falls. The female correctional officer was injured in the penitentiary.

NEW: A detention officer is back at work after being attacked at the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center on Friday.

According to Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton, the officer was attacked while serving dinner to inmates. Dutton said inmate Conrad Olsway allegedly jumped from his bunk and stabbed the officer in the face with a toothbrush sharpened into a shank. Olsway is also accused of punching the officer.

A second detention officer helped subdue Olsway. The injured officer was transported to St. Peter’s emergency room for treatment of the stab wound to his face.

The unprecedented snowfall was driven by a series of atmospheric rivers—moisture-laden storm systems—that delivered over 200% of average precipitation to the region. The season was also unusually cold, which helped preserve the snowpack at lower elevations.

The massive snowpack acted as a natural reservoir, contributing approximately 30 million acre-feet of water—more than the capacity of Lake Mead. This influx significantly alleviated California’s prolonged drought conditions, replenishing reservoirs and improving water availability statewide.
