NEW: An investigation is underway after a two-vehicle crash killed seven people and shut down a major highway through Fremont County, Idaho.

Idaho State Police said troopers were dispatched to milepost 399 on eastbound U.S. 20 near Henry’s Lake in Island Park—roughly 15 miles from the west entrance of Yellowstone National Park—just before 7:15 p.m. on Thursday following reports of the crash.

Investigators determined that a Dodge Ram pickup and a Mercedes van collided, both erupting in flames upon impact. The van was reportedly carrying a tour group of 14 people.

Seven people were killed, including six passengers in the van and the driver of the pickup. Aerial and ground medical resources responded to the scene.

Emergency crews are responding to Buckingham Collegiate Charter Academy in Vacaville on Friday after several staff members and parents reported feeling light-headed during a meeting on campus, according to the Vacaville Unified School District. 

In a message to parents obtained by KCRA 3, Principal Samantha Working said the school was being evacuated to Andrew’s Park as a precaution.

Texas: Mayor John Whitmire joined the Houston Police Officers' Union and Police Chief J. Noe Diaz to announce details of a five-year contract with the Houston Police Officers Union. This contract includes increased starting officers' salaries, a pay raise for experienced officers, and significant investments in the Houston Police Department's recruitment and retention strategies.

The transformative agreement recognizes the hard work and sacrifice of police officers and makes HPD more competitive with police departments across the state.

The contract includes salary increases (36.5% over 5 years):
July 2025 – 10% Increase
July 2026 – 8% Increase
July 2027 – 6% Increase
July 2028 – 6% Increase
July 2029 – 6.5% Increase

On July 1, 2025, first-year officers will make $81,600 (with a shift and weekend differential). Mayor Whitmire said this will make them the highest paid in the state.
