The president of the National Sheriffs' Association said he was "at peace" as he and his fellow sheriffs left the White House this week after meeting for almost an hour with President Donald Trump.

Sheriff Kieran Donahue, the NSA president and the top law enforcement officer in Canyon County, Idaho, said there’s been a wind shift in federal support for local police and sheriffs.

Just after 9 am, the FBI arrested Eleodoro "Leo" Estrada-Hernandez in connection to the kidnapping of a young mother & her baby. Hernandez was taken into custody without incident by FBI Special Agents in Knightdale. Garner Police charged him with multiple state crimes.

Prayers for the New Orleans police officer who was injured in the line of duty this morning. 🙏🏽

Louisiana: An officer was injured Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle outside the Walmart on Tchoupitoulas Street, according to officials.

The incident unfolded around 10:40 a.m. near St. Andrew and Rousseau streets, where a heavy police presence was seen surrounding the retail store. Witnesses reported a large number of officers converging on the scene, with some accompanying an ambulance as it transported the injured officer to University Medical Center.

Additional ambulances have since arrived at UMC.

Details on the circumstances leading up to the incident, the officer's condition, and whether any suspects are in custody have not been released.

NEW: An investigation is underway after a two-vehicle crash killed seven people and shut down a major highway through Fremont County, Idaho.

Idaho State Police said troopers were dispatched to milepost 399 on eastbound U.S. 20 near Henry’s Lake in Island Park—roughly 15 miles from the west entrance of Yellowstone National Park—just before 7:15 p.m. on Thursday following reports of the crash.

Investigators determined that a Dodge Ram pickup and a Mercedes van collided, both erupting in flames upon impact. The van was reportedly carrying a tour group of 14 people.

Seven people were killed, including six passengers in the van and the driver of the pickup. Aerial and ground medical resources responded to the scene.
