Kentucky: Three deputy jailers at the Marion County Detention Center were injured late Monday night, April 28, when an inmate violently attacked staff during an escort.

According to a press release from Marion County Jailer Barry Brady, the incident occurred at 11:37 p.m. when Inmate Roosevelt Davis III was being escorted from the recreation yard to the maximum security housing unit. Without warning, Davis charged Sergeant Jon Mullins, striking him in the face and knocking him backward. He then assaulted Lieutenant Rebecca Streeval, hitting her repeatedly in the face and head. Deputy Stephen Feese was also struck while attempting to assist Lt. Streeval.

Deputy Francis Hoeck responded to the scene and deployed his taser, subduing the inmate by 11:38 p.m. The entire incident lasted just over one minute.

All three staff members were taken to Spring View Hospital for evaluation. Sgt. Mullins and Deputy Feese were treated and released. Lt. Streeval was stat-flighted to the University of Louisville Hospital for further evaluation due to head injuries.

Arkansas: A Tuesday pursuit in Lonoke County ended in a crash that left a deputy, a K9 and others injured.

According to investigators, the pursuit started in Jacksonville and then Lonoke County Sheriff’s deputies joined the pursuit on Highway 31 after crossing into the county.

Investigators said the person being pursued, 18-year-old Jashaun Coffey of Jacksonville, struck a truck and trailer on Highway 31 at Covington Road. The impact of that crash caused the truck and trailer to be thrown into the path of a K9 unit, which resulted in the injury of a deputy and his K9 partner.

Deputies said Coffey was transported by Med Flight to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the truck and the deputy were both taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and the K9 was taken to a veterinarian for evaluation.

Please join us in sending prayers and, or, positive thoughts for their recovery. 🙏🏻
