It is with deep respect and heartfelt remembrance that we share the passing of the 26th Anaheim Police Chief, Jimmie Kennedy.
Chief Kennedyβs journey in service began in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1957, where he served as a Radarman First Class aboard a destroyer stationed at Pearl Harbor. He brought that same steadfastness and sense of duty to Anaheim, joining as a patrolman on October 13, 1958. Over three decades, he rose through every rank to eventually become Chief in 1983, a role he held with dignity and resolve.
His legacy is profound, from pioneering the βPolice 2000β modernization project to overseeing the East Anaheim Substation and implementing cutting-edge communications systems. Chief Kennedyβs impact is woven into the very fabric of our department, symbolized by the training auditorium named in his honor in 2000. He has left a legacy that will impact generations to come.
Chief Kennedy led with humility, integrity, and an unwavering love for his city. We extend our deepest condolences to his wife, children, and all whose lives he touched.
