NEW: Friday morning, Richland Police said that officers conducted a traffic stop and search on an RV traveling along the highway.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said on Friday that during the traffic stop, the driver, identified as 77-year-old Abdullah Chetin of Ocala, Florida, by Rankin County Coroner David Ruth, barricaded himself into the RV, pulled out a gun, and started shooting at officers while they were inside the RV.

This prompted an exchange of gunfire between Chetin and the officers.

MBI said that’s when officers exited the RV and the standoff began. Another round of gunfire was then exchanged, resulting in Chetin being shot and killed.

No officer was injured during the standoff. However, Richland Police did say that an officer responding to the scene was involved in a traffic accident and is receiving medical attention at a local hospital.

Los Angeles: On April 8, 2025, around 3:25 pm, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) requested a backup locating three misdemeanor hit-and-run suspects who fled into a residential neighborhood near the 134 Freeway and Figueroa Street. Multiple Northeast Division uniformed officers responded and established a perimeter. Several minutes later, officers were directed by CHP to the rear of a residence in the 5300 block of Waldo Place, where one suspect was last seen running. As the officers were in the rear yard of that residence, they observed a female, later identified as 51-year-old Jillian Shriner, in the yard of a neighboring residence armed with a handgun. The officers ordered Shriner to drop the handgun numerous times; however, she refused. Shriner then pointed the handgun at the officers, and an Officer-Involved Shooting occurred.

Shriner was struck by gunfire and fled into her residence. She later exited and was taken into custody. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported Shriner to a local hospital, where she was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

No officers or other community members were injured during this incident. It was later determined that Shriner was uninvolved in the hit-and-run and lived at the residence where she was observed. She was ultimately absentee booked for attempted murder, booking number 6994080.

One of the male suspects connected with the hit-and-run was detained by CHP, cited, and released. The other two suspects were not located.

A 9-millimeter handgun was recovered from Shriner’s residence.

Force Investigation Division (FID) investigators responded to the scene and are investigating this incident.

Here are the facts:
✔️ On April 1, 2025, around 7:15 p.m., a deputy saw someone walking across NE 99th Street near I-5—a busy intersection with no crosswalk and moving traffic. Concerned the person could be hit by a car—or cause a crash that could injure others—the deputy pulled over to check on the person, initially believing they might be a child.
✔️ Upon contact, the individual provided a name that did not return any records. After further investigation, the deputy identified her as a 27-year-old woman by matching her to prior booking photos.
✔️ She was not arrested. She was briefly detained while the deputy determined her identity, then given a verbal warning for walking in traffic and released.
