Two people were shot, one fatally, near Western Ave & Exposition Blvd Monday afternoon, prompting a massive police response and Metro service shutdowns.

A 52-year-old man is accused of kidnapping a 14-year-old girl on Tuesday, the Fairfield Police Department said. The teen was walking to the Matt Garcia Career and College Academy when a man, later identified as Galvao tried grabbing the girl, police said. She resisted and tried running away but the man ran after her. Police said she made it to school and let both her father and school administrators know about what had just happened. That's when dispatchers got a call around 9 a.m. about the attempted kidnapping

NEW: Two Stolen Vehicles Recovered in Two Hours — Thanks to Automated License Plate Recognition

On Saturday afternoon, officers recovered two stolen vehicles in separate incidents, thanks to real-time alerts from our Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system.

First stop: A stolen vehicle was located on the 10700 block of Jefferson Boulevard. The driver was arrested without incident.

Second stop, two hours later: Another stolen vehicle was spotted near Sepulveda Boulevard and Culver Boulevard. Officers conducted a safe traffic stop in the 4300 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, arresting the driver for vehicle theft and a passenger for drug possession.

Another example of how technology and proactive policing are working together to keep Culver City safe.
