A man was shot and killed outside a donut shop in a Van Nuys strip mall early Saturday morning in what police are calling a targeted attack. LAPD says the victim was standing by his car after midnight when two suspects approached and opened fire, then fled in a vehicle. The victim died at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

Update: Trooper Christian Ramirez was involved in a serious single-vehicle wreck around 5:20 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, 2025, on Arkansas 7 in Garland County. He underwent surgery last night and is in stable condition this morning.

Trooper Ramirez, assigned to Troop K, was enroute to a three-vehicle accident during heavy rainfall with lights and sirens activated.
The trooper was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Update: Harris County Pct. 1 Constable Deputy Sheila Jones was wounded during a shootout in Downtown Houston on Monday.

A shooting at Houston's family law courthouse happened when a Harris County Precinct 1 deputy saw a man with a weapon outside a jury assembly room and chased him outside before exchanging gunfire.

HCSO deputy Sheila Jones is in stable condition after being shot in the back during a shootout with a suspect downtown. She’s been in law enforcement for over 30 years and was formerly a major with HCSO before the two years she’s been with Pct. 1.

New Jersey: Edwin Ramirez-Carranza, 20, was behind the wheel of a Chevy Silverado when he allegedly ran the red signal at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Cedar Bridge Avenue around 12:10 a.m., striking a Honda Civic driven by a Lakewood Township Police Officer who had just ended his shift, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

The impact left the officer in critical condition at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, officials said. Ramirez-Carranza was also hospitalized but later released and transported to Ocean County Jail on Sunday, where he remains pending a detention hearing.
