Sgt. Joe Harris, who was believed to have been the oldest surviving World War II paratrooper prior to his death last month at age 108, was laid to rest with a celebration honoring his life and an enduring legacy.

Prayers for the Pottstown Police officer who was shot in the line of duty tonight. 🙏🏻

A gunman involved in a crash shot a police officer in the shoulder, leading to a standoff in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, that lasted for hours Sunday evening, officials said.

Pottstown police first responded to a crash involving two vehicles on Beech and North Mount Vernon streets at 5:06 p.m., according to investigators.

A man who was involved in the crash then tried to grab a gun inside one of the vehicles, leading to a struggle between him and the responding officers, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele wrote in a released statement Sunday night.

The unidentified man then fled on foot to his home on Winding Road as the officers chased after him, Steele said. The man then pulled out a gun and fired at the pursuing officers, according to investigators. One of the officers was then shot in the shoulder. That officer was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Michigan: On Sunday, April 6, 2025, at approximately 4:00 pm, a passing motorist contacted the Ingham 911 Center reporting a man walking the wrong way on the highway creating a hazard, along US127 near Barnes Road, in Vevay Township.

Several police personnel arrived on scene and observed the previously described man on the freeway in moving traffic. Personnel contacted him; he was non-compliant and soon after produced multiple knives. De-escalation efforts continued for several minutes. During this intervention, the man was shot by police personnel.

Life-saving efforts were initiated but were unsuccessful. There is no ongoing threat to the public, however, US127 will be closed in the area of Barnes Road until further notice.

NEW: Louisiana man suspected of killing his parents arrested in Los Angeles.

The 34-year-old man was arrested on Friday and was allegedly in possession of several loaded firearms and body armor, according to Los Angeles County deputies.

NY: Four people, including a Suffolk County police officer, were injured Sunday afternoon when a police car hit an SUV on Walt Whitman Road in Huntington Station.

The department said that the police car struck the rear of a southbound 2020 Honda SUV that had stopped at a yellow light in front of 301 Walt Whitman Road at 4:52 p.m. Three adults in the SUV and the officer were taken to Huntington Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
