NYC: A “heroic” 11-year-old called the police after she and three other children were stabbed in Brooklyn, police said.

The incident happened around 10:15 a.m. at a home on 84th Street between 16th and 17th Avenues, fire officials said. The 11-year-old told police she and her three siblings, ages 8, 13 and 16, had been stabbed by a relative, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said.

When police arrived on the scene, they found a man holding a “large meat cleaver covered in blood,” Tisch said.

Another uninjured child had also gone to the neighbors for help, then led police into the building when they arrived, Tisch said. Police were led into a hallway, where they could hear screams from behind a closed door, Tisch said.

Police kicked down the door and found the suspected attacker, she said. Police described the bloody scene as “horrific.” All four children are expected to survive, Tisch said.

“There was five children in there, four hurt and a young man who so bravely went to the neighbors to alert the neighbors to call us. Also that 11 year old who.. made that [911] call –quite heroic on their behalf,” Chief of Department John Chell said.
Officers told the man to drop his weapon before two officers shot at him seven times, striking him at least once, Tisch said. The suspected attacker was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, Tisch said.
Police found a second knife on the scene.

Family members told police the suspected attacker has a history of mental illness, but there is no reported history of domestic violence at the home, police said.

Yes he volunteered to work OT and was his last call on the way to his home. No one knew it was going to be his last call to his eternal home! 💔😭

ICYMI: 1 dead, 4 wounded after shooting in South Los Angeles

The St. Cloud Police Department - Florida sadly announced the death of K-9 Koda.

K-9 Koda began his service on September 29th of 2020, and his handler was Ofc. William Wager. K-9 Koda’s end of watch was today, just after 3 p.m. Unfortunately, Koda had devoled an untreatable lung disease, and the difficult decision was made to end his suffering. Koda was only six years old.

The grandmother, who is also the child’s legal guardian, is expected to face multiple charges and could be arraigned as early as Friday

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said three correctional officers at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville were hurt in an attack by a prisoner person on Friday.

CDCR stated on its website that a prisoner person attacked the officers with an improvised weapon while they were working on an emergency cell extraction. The three correctional officers were taken to an outside medical facility to be treated and were later released.

UPDATE: Reports from scene of a mini van into a crowd of people under unknown circumstances. At least 9 patients have been identified, all in reportedly fair condition at this time, who will be transported to local hospitals via ambulance. Ages/genders currently unknown -- at least 3 patients are pediatric.
