Prayers for the Turner County Sheriff's deputy who was shot in the line of duty this morning. 🙏🏻

Georgia: A suspect was killed in a shootout with deputies after a cross-county pursuit ended in Dooly County early Friday morning.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, around 2:00 a.m., the Turner County Sheriff's Office joined the Cook County Sheriff's Office in pursuing a driver of a Cadillac sedan going over 100 miles per hour on I-75 northbound.

The Turner County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) says three deputies joined the chase as it continued into Crisp and Dooly counties.

The pursuit ended when deputies performed a PIT maneuver, stopping the Cadillac against a guardrail near the 109-mile marker in Dooly County.

As they attempted to remove the suspect from the vehicle, she began firing a gun, shooting a TCSO deputy in the shoulder and the base of the neck, per the release. All three TCSO deputies returned fire, shooting and killing the suspect at the scene.

TCSO says the deputy shot is expected to make a full recovery.
