Instagram has gone down again for what feels like β€˜the millionth time’ this summer, according to disgruntled users. The site had been experiencing spotty troubles since the early morning hours on Thursday, but it all came to a head around 11:30 am (ET) when the outages appeared to spike. Thousands of reports have since come in from the US and UK, along with parts of Russia, Malaysia, and India. On the app, users have been stuck unable to refresh their feeds.
The Trump administration is planning to send 500 U.S. troops to Saudi Arabia to bolster the kingdom's defenses against Iran. CNN reported Thursday that the Prince Sultan Air Base, in a desert east of Riyadh, will get a Patriot missile battery and an upgraded airfield runway. A small number of troops and support staff are already there. The Pentagon intends to fly stealth F-22 Raptor jets and other aircraft from the base. Its remote location is thought to be difficult for Iranian missiles to strike.

President Donald Trump said Thursday that the United States shot down an Iranian drone in the Strait of Hormuz as tensions in the region continued to escalate. Trump said the drone was threatening a U.S. ship and was "immediately destroyed.” He said it came within 1,000 yards and ignored "multiple calls to stand down. This is the latest of many provocative and hostile actions by Iran against vessels operating in international waters," the president said. "The United States reserves the right to defend our personnel, facilities, and interests." He called on other countries to condemn Iran's "attempts to disrupt freedom of navigation and global commerce" Trump said. πŸ’₯
