6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Southern California amid Fourth of July celebrations. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake was reported near Searles Valley, a sparsely populated portion of the Mojave Desert. The USGS said the quake started 11 miles from Ridgecrest, California, around 10.33am. Fire crews are responding to at least 24 medical and fire incidents in Ridgecrest. A Ridgecrest resident shared video of her father's liquor store that was damaged by the earthquake.

Under White House direction, the Pentagon was arranging for an Air Force B-2 stealth bomber and other warplanes to conduct flyovers. Three protesters in Hong Kong have jumped to their deaths in the last three weeks amid a protest movement against the city's Beijing-backed government and a controversial extradition bill. The deaths had included suicide notes criticising Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam and supporting the anti-extradition bill demonstrations.
