Syria on Tuesday accused Israel of committing 'state terrorism' after Israeli air strikes killed 15 people including civilians. Israeli air strikes near Damascus and in Homs province late on Sunday killed nine pro-regime fighters and six civilians, including three children, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. 'Israeli authorities are increasingly practising state terrorism,' the Syrian foreign ministry said in a statement. 'The latest heinous Israeli aggression falls within the framework of ongoing Israeli attempts to prolong the crisis in Syria,' it added.

NASA has successfully tested a new launch-abort system in Florida today as part of its planned Artemis human spaceflight missions to the moon and possibly Mars. It's part of NASA's certification of the new Orion spacecraft, a capsule designed to carry humans to the moon and bring them back safely. This was the third of five launches to test the capsule, which will form an integral part of the Artemis mission - due to launch in 2024. Today's test carried a model of the capsule on top of a refurbished first-stage rocket engine from a Peacekeeper intercontinental ballistic missile. ππ

Donald Trump is closing down Washington D.C.'s Reagan National Airport for his 'biggest fireworks ever' and Air Force One flypast as part of his 'Salute to America' but the weather may rain on his July Fourth celebration. The Federal Aviation Administration announced that flights would be grounded from National, which is close to the center of D.C., during the flypast, from 6.15pm to 7.15pm, and for the fireworks, from 9pm to 9.45pm. It will be the first time the airport has ever been closed for the annual July 4 fireworks, whose launch site was moved closer to the airport to accommodate Trump's 'Salute to America.'
