The man threw at least seven punches in five seconds outside Lotus nightclub in Clapham, South West London, overnight as a security guard tried to intervene. Friends said the victim was 'very shaken up' and 'very bruised right now but she's doing OK', adding that the punches left her with a bleeding nose. The incident happened outside the club, which had last night hosted an event called 'Galaxy Gala 2019 - New Year's Eve at Lotus', with tickets costing up to £40. One friend posted a video of the shocking attack online in the early hours and said she was 'in shock' - describing the man as a 'coward' for running off.

A traditional New Year's Eve bonfire competition in the Netherlands took a terrifying turn as winds caused huge fire tornadoes that raged out of control and ignited fires on the roofs of nearby homes and buildings.
The bonfire was made out of wooden pallets and built on a beach in Scheveningen, a coastal resort of The Hague which competes with neighbouring Duindorp every New Year's Eve to build the largest fire.
However, this year's contest was hit by high winds which whipped the flames into tornadoes and sent ash and sparks all over the area. 😱

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Deputies Jeremy Pollack and Chris Sullivan (right) rescued Amanda Antonio (left and inset), 20, from a water-filled ditch six miles from her home in Tampa on New Year's Day. Antonio, 20, was driving eastbound on Interstate 4 near Tampa. That was when another driver cut her off while they were both approaching the Highway 301 exit ramp, according to authorities. Antonio lost control of her 2008 Toyota Scion, veered off the highway, and overturned in a water-filled ditch. She managed to find an air pocket and dialed 911, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

A group of fishermen have captured the chilling moment a massive great white shark circled their tiny vessel (pictured).
