Washington, DC -- Thirty-five U.S. Capitol Police officers are being investigated for their actions during the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol, and six have been suspended with pay, the police department said in a statement on Friday.

Five people, including Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, died in the violence when throngs of former President Donald Trump’s supporters attacked the Capitol, overpowering security forces.

Two law enforcement officers later died by suicide.

“Acting Chief Yogananda Pittman has directed that any member of her department whose behavior is not in keeping with the department’s rules of conduct will face appropriate discipline,” police department spokesman John Stolnis said.

Details of the investigation were not provided.

A U.S. House of Representatives panel has scheduled a hearing on Feb. 25 to look into Capitol security failures on Jan. 6. Pittman and Acting House Sergeant-at-arms Timothy Blodgett are scheduled to testify.

The crash involving a single engine Piper PA-32 and a semi-tractor trailer truck was reported at about noon in the 2500 block of South Navy Way, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The impact of the crash left part of the aircraft wedged into the windshield of the tractor trailer. The pilot, identified by the Los Angeles County coroner as 53-year-old Larry Voit of Gardena, was declared dead at the scene. Fire officials say bystanders had pulled the pilot from the wreckage and tried to give him CPR until firefighters arrived. “There was a bystander, a truck driver who was there at the scene, he stopped his truck, jumped out and assisted by providing CPR to the pilot of the aircraft,” LAFD spokesman David Ortiz said. The pilot who passed away has not been identified.
At a time when the simple act of traveling through the United States often put Black people in physical danger, “The Negro Motorist Green Book” was an essential guide to safe spaces. That’s why the Negro Motorist Green Book, which listed restaurants, hotels and other businesses that welcomed African Americans, became known as the “bible of Black travel.” Published from 1936 to 1967, the guides included more than 10,000 sites, but only about 3% still stand, says Candacy Taylor, author of "Overground Railroad." And it’s important to visit them, she says. Want to know more about the places mentioned in the Green Book and what they look like now? Here's a look at some notable sites.

LA County Sheriffs: It was incumbent upon LASD Deputies Mack & Perry, African-American women, to become trailblazers for future community servants. Both Deputies paved the way for later African-American female deputies to work not only in patrol cars, but in the many other jobs that are available. With 16 African-American executives who hold the rank of captain or above, we want to celebrate the achievements of past LASD personnel who paved the way for future generations of African-American community members to be community leaders.
LAPD HQ: Street Racing & Takeovers— both illegal actions, at times with deadly consequences.

LAPD’s Central Traffic Street Racing Taskforce is committed to disrupting and abating this illegal activity, and it’s not just cars they are taking off the streets.

Tucker Carlson Tonight: The far-left agenda your children are being taught every day. Nothing changes a society more over the long term than the way we teach our children, what we teach them, and how we teach them. If you want to pass on your values, you tell your kids about them. So school matters maybe more than anything. From the very first day "Tucker Carlson Tonight" came on the air in November 2016, we have covered the way our schools are changing and the indoctrination that your kids are suffering through. Over the past four-plus years, the curricula in so many schools has turned from the extremely left-wing to the outright totalitarian. For example, the school district in Buffalo, N.Y., now has an Office of Culturally & Linguistically Responsive Initiatives. The Buffalo school district's "first days of school" lesson plan gets political in very specific terms. "Do Black Lives Matter in America?" it begins.
