CALGARY, Alberta/OTTAWA - Joe Bidenโs expected move to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline prompted Canadaโs main oil-producing province of Alberta on Monday to threaten to seek damages as Ottawa made efforts to save the troubled project. A source told Reuters on Sunday that Biden will cancel a permit for the $8 billion project over concerns about fossil fuels contributing to climate change, dealing a blow to the Canadian energy sector. All three were taken into custody without incident, according to Laura Eimiller, a spokeswoman for the FBIโs Los Angeles office. They are expected to make court appearances Tuesday afternoon.

Twelve National Guard troops have been removed from security duties at the Capitol after questionable behavior was detected in their past during security screening, Army Gen. Daniel Hokanson, chief of the National Guard Bureau, said Tuesday. Two from that group had made inappropriate comments or texts about President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration, Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said. But not all 12 have ties to extremist groups, he said. โWeโre not taking any chances,โ said Hoffman, who characterized the comments made by the two as inappropriate texts. Of the 12, 10 were identified by the FBI in security screening, Hokanson said. Another was flagged by commanders and the final one was identified by an anonymous tipster. There are about 25,000 National Guard troops in Washington for Wednesday's inauguration.

I'll have to see with the substance of it is. You can ask me as many times as you wish... I'm going to wait to see what an administration I trust, what conclusions they come up with. Apple sued to remove Telegram from App Store over anti-Semitic posts. Telegram's star is on the rise, but as the secure messaging app used by protest organizers, political dissidents, revenge porn seekers, and white supremacists alike gets even more popular, reaching more than 500 million active users worldwide in recent days, it faces wider scrutiny. Those irked by Telegram's limited content moderation in the past โ researchers have nicknamed it "Terrorgram" due to a glut of Nazi extremists โ have been complaining into the internet void for years, but a lawsuit filed Sunday adds a new spotlight to the controversy and a unique twist. While Telegram is seeing posts from far-right groups like the Boogaloo Bois and Proud Boys explode after the attack on the Capitol, it remains in the App Store, even as Apple suspended Parler for allowing similar groups to trumpet hate speech and recruit new members. Some of these groups on Telegram aren't new, but they've increased in size. (Read More.)
