A child was shot and wounded Thursday afternoon in Southwest D.C., officials say. The shooting occurred in the 200 block of K Street SW, police said. The victim, a boy about 12 years old, was taken to a hospital. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. The shooter fled the area in a car. No information on the suspect was immediately released.

Washington DC -- Today, activists with "Shut Down DC" and BLM held a press conference outside the Hilton Hotel in DC demanding the closure of hotels during Inauguration to stop Trump supporters from coming back for the event. They say hotel workers should be compensated to stay home. Foolly Nee Nee Taylor of BLM says "these hotels hosted hate" during the previous MAGA events that took place in DC, and she joins the call for them to shut down during Inauguration. She also wants businesses to explicitly declare themselves "racism-free zones." Airbnb has already cancelled DC-area reservations that coincide with Inauguration Day.
