A driver surrendered to law enforcement after leading them on a high-speed pursuit in the San Fernando Valley area Wednesday night. The vehicle was zooming northbound on the 405 Freeway near Granada Hills when Sky5 arrived above the scene at 11 p.m. The driver was originally wanted for speeding, according to California Highway Patrol. The silver sedan made its way onto the 5 Freeway and exited sooner after. CHP officers then attempted a PIT maneuver but the driver managed to flee. The bumper of the vehicle appeared to be hanging off for several miles as the sedan continued to speed on surface streets. Happy to say that Gunner is here today because of Rick's fast actions, jumping in without hesitation," Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a video posted to Facebook. ‘This is the big one’: President Trump tweets in support of Texas election lawsuit at the Supreme Court.
The election dispute is not over yet. In fact, it’s headed to the nation’s highest court, now, with the support of the Trump Administration and attorney generals from several states.
The lawsuit was filed by the state of Texas against four other states. It claims those four states violated election law.
On Tuesday, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed the suit against Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. It asks that those states be blocked from voting in the electoral college.
Now, the four battleground states have until Thursday to respond.
It is no surprise that President Trump was quick to back the suit, after his extensive battles with corruption in the voting process this election.
He also tweeted about an earlier lawsuit from a Republican lawmaker in Pennsylvania. It had asked the Supreme Court to stop the state from certifying its election. Rejected by the justices, it was a blow to the Trump campaign.
It appears that Texas’ new attempt to right election wrongs is providing new hope for justice, and other states have been quick to show support too.
Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt said Monday that his state will back the suit.
Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry also issued a statement, asking for the Supreme Court to consider the case. Furthermore, the U.S. Supreme Court should consider the most recent Texas motion, which contains some of the same arguments.
Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall tweeted a written statement of support as well.
Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge said she supports Texas’ motion too.
