Los Angeles mayor Eric Dumbass Garcetti: "It's time to cancel everything."
Right now: Outside the White House, activists with CPD Action and Shut Down DC are holding a protest/performance portraying Mitch McConnell as the “Grinch” who stole the holidays by not giving emergency funding.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies are now allowed to cover up their name plates while policing protests in the city. LA County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said he okayed the move — a reversal of a long-standing department policy — after “numerous” instances in which protesters released personal information about himself and his deputies, the Los Angeles Time said in a report. Deputies will still display their badges. “It turns out that the name tapes are going to be covered and they’re going to be replaced with a badge number, an identifying number, and that will comply with state law,” Villanueva said during a live Facebook broadcast. “The interesting thing about what happened with the name coverings is that some protesters were actually using the deputy’s names to then go dox them,” he said. “Blast their home address on social media, show up at their houses, vandalize their homes. That is not exactly the intent of state law.”

BREAKING: Judge has ordered Kyle Rittenhouse to stand trial on all six counts—including charges related to the deaths of two men and the shooting of a third during a Kenosha protest in August. Rittenhouse remains free on $2M bail. The decision came after the 17-year-old from Antioch, Ill., appeared in a Kenosha County preliminary court hearing held via Zoom. The teen was freed from jail last month after his lawyers posted the $2 million bail set at the first hearing since his extradition from Illinois to Wisconsin. Most of the bond was raised through a legal defense fund set up by Fight Back Foundation, a free speech group, that sees Rittenhouse as a patriot who was protecting the property of small businesses from rioters.
