Tucker Carlson Tonight: Elites Are Using Identity Politics To Preserve Class System. Biden was urged to use identity politics to pick his team. Imagine for a moment that you were an incompetent public official, and you didn't want anyone to know you were incompetent. What would you do? Well, your first task would be to destroy the meritocracy, the system that rewards people in this country for their effort and their talents as opposed to rewarding them for irrelevant criteria like how they look. A meritocracy is the main threat to incompetent people. It keeps them from getting rich and powerful, so they hate it.

Meanwhile, in Brazil. A gang of armed men has reportedly stormed a city in northern Brazil, attacking a bank and taking hostages. From initial reports, the overnight attack on Cametá appears to be almost identical to the storming of Criciúma, a city in the south, by gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday. There is no suggestion that the two incidents are linked. Video footage from Cametá appeared to show a group of hostages being led through the streets. One hostage died, a local MP tweeted. However, there has been no official confirmation of anyone being dead or injured. Footage posted online appears to show groups of gunmen on the street and hostages being taken. Shots and explosions are heard. It is unclear which bank in Cametá, in Para state, is being targeted. Although details are still sketchy, there are clear similarities with the raid on Criciúma the previous night.

Salvage workers on the Georgia coast are set to begin cutting the second section of the Golden Ray, the massive cargo ship that ran aground just over a year ago in the St. Simons Sound, after crews hit a milestone in removal operations this weekend. Onlookers watched Saturday as the bow, brimming with smashed cars and trucks and weighing about 6,600 tons, was cut from the body of the ship and lifted just high enough to allow a custom fitted barge to slide underneath. The Golden Ray, a car carrier with more than 4,000 Hyundai vehicles as cargo, had just left the Port of Brunswick when it rolled on its side in September 2019.
