ROBESON COUNTY, NC – An officer with the Rowland Police Department had to be airlifted to a hospital Oct. 17 following a vicious attack lodged against him when he tried to make an arrest during a disturbance call. The brutal beating was captured on video by a bystander who encouraged the suspect to continue attacking the police officer. Rowland Police Chief Hubert B. Graham identified the officer who was attacked on video as 27-year-old Michael Sale. The officer was reportedly responding to a disturbance call when he encountered Jamel Alphonso Rogers. While it’s not clear what Rogers was initially suspected of, at some point during that response Officer Sale attempted to place Rogers in handcuffs. The video recorded by a bystander shows the suspect with a pair of handcuffs dangling from one of his wrists while he struggles with the officer.People on the streets seem to find the situation humorous, and nobody attempts to help the officer. 😡 The video is hard to watch.
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - A large police presence was seen at Paramount Pictures on Sunday night in Hollywood. The #LAPD was responding to a man with a knife call at around 10:15 p.m. No injuries have been reported.

The University of Iowa is rejecting calls from eight former Hawkeyes football players who want $20 million in compensation for what they have said was racial discrimination. The black players were signees to the letter delivered to the university earlier this month. They also demand that athletic director Gary Barta, head coach Kirk Ferentz and assistant coach Brian Ferentz be fired over the discrimination allegations, according to the Des Moines Register. In rejecting the demands made in the letter, the school's president, Bruce Harreld, said, "Many of their concerns have been reviewed and addressed. And to be clear, any student-athlete that has left the university and did not obtain their degree is welcome to return, and we are here to support them."
The new Prime Minister of Japan, Yoshihide Suga, is facing additional international pressure over the weekend, amid reports that Japan will be accelerating plans to dump millions of gallons of radioactive water directly into the ocean, Forbes reported. Reports have being widely circulated among Japan’s leading news agency and across international media that suggest the decision has already been taken by the new Japanese Government, and will be publicly communicated later this month. Over 1.2 million tons of radioactive cooling water from the Fukushima Nuclear Plant will be released. While the water will be treated, it will still be radioactive. 170 tons of new radioactive wastewater is generated each day and is stored in 1000 specially designed tanks.
