Hurricane Delta inflicted a new round of destruction on Louisiana as it struck communities still reeling after Hurricane Laura took a similar path just six weeks earlier. When Delta came ashore Friday as a Category 2 hurricane, almost all homes and buildings in Lake Charles still bore battered roofs and other damage from Laura. Piles of moldy mattresses, sawed-up trees and other debris still lined the streets. Power outages in Louisiana and neighboring Texas soared past 410,000 homes and businesses Friday within hours of the storm coming ashore, according to the tracking website PowerOutage.us. Delta crashed onshore Friday night near the coastal town of Creole — a distance of only about 15 miles from where Laura struck land in August, killing 27 people in Louisiana.

Scientists say an asteroid is expected to zoom uncomfortably close to Earth on the day before Election Day. The celestial object, known as 2018 VP1, is expected to buzz Earth on November 2, according to the Center for Near Objects Studies at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. According to NASA, 2018 VP1 is a very small asteroid whose orbit crosses the orbit of Earth. Computer simulations have not indicated any imminent likelihood of a collision. It orbits the sun every 731 days and is roughly comparable in size to a school bus or smaller. The space agency says that “based on 21 observations spanning 12.968 days," there is just a 0.41% chance of the asteroid entering Earth's atmosphere. If it does enter the atmosphere, they say that it will disintegrate due to its extremely small size.

BREAKING! Sweden interference in the 2020 United States elections, the New York Post reported. Claiming she never engages in “party politics” teen climate change Sweden citizen Greta Thunberg nevertheless endorsed Democratic nominee Joe Biden Saturday. “The upcoming US elections is above and beyond all that. From a climate perspective it’s very far from enough and many of you of course supported other candidates. But, I mean…you know…damn! Just get organized and get everyone to vote Biden,” the 17-year old Swede tweeted. Thunberg’s age — not to mention her citizenship — means she is ineligible to vote in the US.

The Patriot Muster protester maced the security guard, who then pulled out his handgun and shot him dead, the Denver Post reported - with their photographer capturing the moment in an astonishing images. Denver Police Department (DPD) confirmed on Saturday night the profession of the shooter, and that he had no affiliation with the Patriot Muster's rival BLM-Antifa protesters.
A Denver Post staff member witnessed the fatal confrontation. This story was updated after authorities called into question the accuracy of that journalist’s report concerning the affiliation of the shooter. One person has died and another man, who 9News confirmed was a private security guard contracted by them, is in custody after a shooting during dueling protests Saturday in downtown Denver. 9News reported that one of their employees and a contractor for the television station were taken into custody. It later confirmed the guard was contracted through Pinkerton and “that it has been the practice of 9NEWS for a number of months to hire private security to accompany staff at protests.” Police initially said two people were taken into custody but later said one of them was not involved in the incident. They tweeted that the suspect was a private security guard with no affiliation with Antifa.
