PASADENA, Calif. - A man is dead after being shot by Pasadena police. During a traffic stop just before 8 p.m. Saturday, near Raymond Avenue and Grandview Street, two male officers saw the passenger flee, Pasadena police Lt. William Grisafe said. They chased the man down Raymond Street when something happened to elevate things, although it was unclear what occurred, he said. According to a news release, the passenger fled after preventing the police from searching him. He ran into the street holding his waistband and removed a firearm. Both officers noticed the man had a gun. At least one officer fired twice at the man, striking him at least once in the upper torso. It was unclear whether the other officer also shot at the suspect. The suspect continued to run away after being hit, throwing the gun into the street. The man collapsed and was detained, Grisafe said. Police called paramedics once they determined the man had been struck by at least one bullet, he said.

Prosecutors in northern Mexico say that gunmen have killed a son of legendary drug lord Amado Carrillo Fuentes.
A riot was declared around midnight Sunday in Portland as protesters flocked to a law enforcement builing, continuing a nightly ritual in Oregon's biggest city. Over 60 calls to Portland police went unheeded overnight as officers were deployed to quell the protests where officers used crowd control munitions to disperse demonstrators outside the Penumbra Kelly building. Protesters threw 'softball-size' rocks, glass bottles, and pointed green lasers at officers' eyes, the police department reported on Twitter, documenting the unrest that has continued for 80 consecutive nights following the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. The department also said security cameras had been spray painted, the building was vandalized and protesters trespassed on the closed property. Portland police said that the crowd of hundreds of people blocked traffic for three hours outside the Penumbra Kelly Building in the 4700 block of East Burnside Street.
