Franklin county (GA) sheriff’s deputy killed on traffic accident scene. It’s long been known that responding to traffic accidents and enforcing anything on the roadway that requires an officer to be outside of their vehicle is dangerous. In this case, sadly again, it was proven when Deputy Sheriff William “Bill” Garner was struck by a vehicle in the median on a Georgia highway.Deputy Garner had stopped to assist on the scene of a traffic accident when the unrelated vehicle left the roadway and struck him. The man who was driving the vehicle was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide. Deputy Garner was transported to the closest hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Deputy Garner was a thirteen year veteran of law enforcement having served twelve years with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office before moving to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office where he’d been serving for the past year. #RIP
A tsunami warning that was issued late Tuesday night for much of the southern coast of Alaska and the Alaskan Peninsula has been canceled, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said. The warning was issued after a preliminary 7.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded 75 miles off the town of Chignik at a depth of eight miles. Reports indicated that sirens could be heard along coastal cities in the state. Before the cancellation, the National Tsunami Warning Center said that tsunami activity was forecasted to begin at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday on Sand Point, shortly after midnight in Kodiak and about 10 minutes after that in Cold Bay.“For other U.S. and Canadian Pacific coasts in North America, the level of tsunami danger is being evaluated,” the original alert said.
The mass shooting on Tuesday outside a Chicago funeral home that injured 14 was reportedly among the bloodiest in the city’s modern history. The Chicago Sun-Times reported that in 2013, there was a mass shooting that resulted in 13 injuries. In 2019, police said a man opened fire inside a house during a party that injured 13. The paper reported that this is not the first time gunmen targeted a funeral in the city and pointed to a funeral back in 2012 where a 21-year-old was killed when gunshots rang out in front of the church, which the paper said sent hundreds running for cover. Chicago has recently seen a dramatic rise in gun violence, which prompted President Trump to warn that he would deploy federal troops to the city.

Surveillance footage captured the brazen scene on Sunday afternoon in Mulberry, a town 40 miles east of Tampa. According to police, the suspect, accompanied by another woman, placed assorted electronics items into her cart before adding the 65" Philips TV. The huge television, which depending on the model could sell for up to $450, sat precariously in the cart as the woman shopped. Quite the bold attempt she made - trying to steal a TV that's as big, if not bigger than she is.
A line of #NYPD officers dressed in riot gear cleared out the last of the Occupy City Hall protesters from their month-long encampment in lower Manhattan early Wednesday. The officers moved in at 3.40am, pushing around 70 remaining occupants – said to be a mixture of activists and homeless – north on Centre Street to Foley Square, where the crowd began to disperse. Police said they gave the occupants a 10 minute warning before the Defund the Police activists 'left voluntarily'. In total, seven people were taken into custody during the operation but charges are still pending. One officer was injured after being struck by a brick, police said. The park outside City Hall will now be on lockdown for weeks as clean-up crews move in to clear debris and graffiti from nearby buildings and statues.
