A Brooklyn woman is dead after she was shot confronting a man setting off illegal fireworks in Brooklyn. Shatavia Walls, 33, who was peppered with gunfire July 7 after asking the man to stop setting off the explosives, died from her injuries Friday night at Brookdale Hospital, police sources said. Walls was shot eight times at 1259 Loring Ave. in the Pink Houses around 8:30 p.m. Her companion, Kelvin Hernandez, was also struck, the sources said. Setting off illegal fireworks is a “nonviolent act,” Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams said last month, urging residents to “go talk to the young people or the people on your block who are using fireworks” instead of calling 911 or 311. Walls made the apparently fatal mistake of telling the man, who remains at large, to cease the pyrotechnics. The suspect left, only to return with a gun, shooting the doomed Walls and Hernandez as they tried to run away, police said.

Los Angeles Police Department's Force Investigation Division is investigating an Officer Involved #Shooting (OIS) that occurred early Wednesday morning, in Southeast Division. On June 3, 2020, around 12:38 a.m., Southeast Division uniform officers were driving in-trail to Southeast Station when they encountered a shooting in progress on 86th Place east of Broadway Blvd. As the officers exited their vehicle they were met by additional gunfire and muzzle flashes which resulted in an Officer-Involved-Shooting. The officers detained a driver and passenger of a Mercedes Benz at the corner of 86th Place and Broadway. A dozen people were shot during an incident early Sunday morning along the waterfront area in Peoria, Illinois. The Peoria Police Department said the incident happened around 4:42 a.m. in the area of Northeast Water Street and Hamilton Boulevard, near the city's riverfront. Police spokeswoman Amy Dotson said that about 200 people were gathered in the area at the time when shots rang out. 12 people shot, 2 are in serious condition, with both individuals sustaining gunshot wounds to the neck. None of the injuries are considered to be life-threatening. Two of the victims were transported to an area hospital in ambulances, while 10 were taken in private vehicles. There was no information regarding suspects released by officials. The incident remains under investigation. Missouri Gov. Mike Parson says he is prepared to exercise his pardon powers if prosecutors bring criminal charges in the case of a St. Louis couple who brandished firearms at a group of protesters outside their home. Parson, a Republican, told a St. Louis radio station Friday that he thinks a pardon is “exactly what would happen” if Mark and Patricia McCloskey are hit with charges in the June 28 incident captured on video and seen by millions. He later added that based on what he knows about the case, “I don't think they're going to spend any time in jail.” The McCloskeys, who are both attorneys, displayed guns as Black Lives Matter protesters walked onto the private street where they live. The protesters were headed to the home of St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson. State prosecutor Kim Gardner launched an investigation, saying, “we will not tolerate the use of force against those exercising their First Amendment rights.” St. Louis police seized a rifle from the couple’s home pursuant to a search warrant.

Twelve members of the Thin Blue Line Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club were injured - three of them fatally - in a head-on crash on a Texas highway involving a man authorities say was driving drunk when he crossed a divider. The Kerr County Sheriff's Office said the group was on a ride Saturday afternoon celebrating the club's birthday on Highway 16 just south of Kerrville when someone crossed over the center stripe and ran into them. “There were three fatalities and nine members taken to the hospital in critical condition,” sheriff’s officials said. “The person that crossed the center stripe has been arrested for several counts of intoxicated manslaughter and intoxicated assault.” The bikers killed were Joseph Paglia, of Chicago, Jerry Wayne Harbour, of Houstion, and Michael White, of Chicago. Paglia was president of the club’s Chicago chapter who was a retired Niles City police officer, Fox 29 San Antonio reported. Harbour was a retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel. White was also retired from the U.S. Army.

#WANTED! A pair of inmates who escaped from a Virginia jail nearly a week ago were spotted in recent days in southern Pennsylvania. The U.S. Marshals Service has been looking for Jabar Taylor, 20, (left) and Rashad Williams, 18, (right) since they escaped Monday from Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center in Chesterfield County. “The danger posed by these fugitives and their escape should not be taken lightly by anyone,” Nick E. Proffitt, U.S. marshal for the Eastern District of Virginia, said in a statement. “The fugitives went to great lengths to affect the escape, and they pose a significant threat to any law enforcement officer or member of the public who may encounter them. According to officials, the pair broke out of the jail outside Richmond after assaulting a correctional officer. Williams and Taylor then fled through a hole cut in a perimeter fence, with a getaway vehicle staged outside the detention center.

A Black man carrying an American flag stood outside Portland’s Federal Courthouse Saturday night, telling a crowd of protesters that “none of you guys represent Black lives” as they tore down a fence during the city’s sixth straight week of nightly unrest. The man, wearing a face mask and holding an American flag, can be heard telling protesters that he lives in Portland as they ask him to move so they can occupy the steps of the courthouse. He asks protesters “why” they are taking down the fence. “If you stand for justice come here and stand with me, stand with me because I stand for justice,” the man says in the video. “I’m not here to tear down this fucking fence, I’m not here to spray-paint. It’s going on every days. If you don’t want to get gassed, stop! It has to stop!” As members of the crowd shout obscenities, the man says: “None of you guys represent Black lives."
