President Donald Trump has bashed governors who he says have taken shutdown orders too far in the coronavirus pandemic, saying 'some of them are being unreasonable' as protests against the lockdowns spread across the nation. 'There are a lot of protests out there, and I just think that some of the governors have gotten carried away,' Trump said at a White House briefing on Saturday, as protests grew in cities across the country. On Saturday, thousands of protesters gathered in the state capitals of Texas, Indiana, New Hampshire, Maryland and elsewhere, demanding relaxation of the stay-at-home orders which have left millions jobless. Other protests in dozens of states are already being planned in the coming weeks.

Skateboarders hoping to kick-flip their way through the coronavirus pandemic in a Southern California city were delivered a shock this week when they arrived at their local skate park to find it had been covered with 37 tons of sand. Officials in San Clemente officially closed its parks and recreational facilities on April 1 as part of the state's stay at home orders to help stop the spread of COVID-19. However, in the two weeks that followed, officials received numerous complaints that large groups of people were still continuing to gather at Ralph's Skate Court - ignoring the number of 'No Trespassing' signs displayed at the park's entrance and disregarding the state's social distancing guidelines. Taking a hard-line stance, officials finally decided to draw a line in the sand - literally - on April 13, dumping 37 tons of the granular substance over the park's bowls and ramps, the San Clemente Times reported. #Quarantine
A police officer was killed and two others were injured in what authorities described as an "ambush" in San Marcos, Texas, officials said. The shooting took place after officers responded to a 6:05 p.m. domestic disturbance call at an apartment complex, the San Marcos Police Department said in a statement. "During the course of their response, the suspect ambushed the officers with a rifle," it said. A suspect apparently died for a self-inflicted gunshot, police said. Charley Wilkinson, the Executive Director of Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, said in a tweet that one of the injured officers was in critical condition. Both underwent surgery at a hospital, San Marcos police said. San Marcos is between Austin and San Antonio. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement that the violence "is a somber reminder of the service and sacrifice our brave men and women in law enforcement make everyday to keep us safe.
