A California couple was surprised to find out last weekend they had contracted coronavirus after a month-long cruise to Antarctica, Fox News reported. “We were in the safest place in the world literally,” Bill Portanova told the Sacramento Bee Tuesday. Shauna Portanova tested positive for the virus after returning to Sacramento and her husband Bill was told to presume he had the virus as well in an effort to conserve test kits. The couple left for the Antarctic cruise on Hurtigruten Cruise’s MS Roald Amundsen with a “few hundred” other passengers in February, but the Chilean government refused to allow the ship to return in March even though no passengers were sick at the time, SFGATE reported.

The US has hit a new record for the highest number of #coronavirus deaths reported in a single day, hitting 12,935 deaths following a spike of 1,917 fatalities in 24 hours. The previous record for most new US COVID-19 deaths in a single day was on April 4 with a spike of 1,344 cases, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. More than 22,000 people have recovered from the respiratory illness.

This morning, around 10:30, a bridge on the SP-70 road collapsed, between Aulia and Ceparana, Italy, (Province of Massa-Carrara). A person was injured, because his van was on the bridge at the time of the collapse.
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, California — Man armed with ‘multiple weapons’ enters SoCal Hospital, is taken down by staff. A suspect is in custody after entering a Southern California hospital with at least two weapons Wednesday. Witnesses say the man, wearing a surgical mask, walked into Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center holding what appeared to be a gun. Local media reports staff members tackled him and waited for police to arrive. Initial reports indicated an active shooter but no injuries have been reported. A motive for the crime remains under investigation.
