The number of NYPD officers who have tested positive for coronavirus has risen to 35 — up from 20 — as Commissioner Dermot Shea reassured his officers and the city in an exclusive sit-down interview with Fox News. “The very positive news is that even though we have 35 officers tested positive for this illness, zero out of those 35 are currently hospitalized,” Shea said Friday. The virus has affected all different ranks throughout the department. There is one officer, who has not confirmed positive, but who was hospitalized in serious condition with pneumonia. Last week, the union representing NYPD officers filed a complaint claiming the #NYPD has failed to provide adequate protective equipment of cleaning and sanitizing supplies to police officers. On Friday, Shea said the NYPD is in talks about obtaining more masks for their officers, but he said if an officer wants a mask or hand sanitizer, they can “absolutely” get it.

Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow has declared a “critical incident” due to a surge in patients with covid-19
⚠️ The American Red Cross president & CEO Gail J. McGovern sounded the alarm. “We've had 2,700 blood drives canceled so far and that equates to about 86,000 units of blood,” McGovern said, about the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak in the United States. The American Red Cross announced that nationally, it is facing a “severe blood shortage” as a result of an “unprecedented number of blood drive cancellations during this coronavirus outbreak.” The organization said that donors are needed urgently, and they are urging healthy and eligible donors to make an appointment by visiting RedCrossBlood.org, or calling 1-800-RED-CROSS. Those potential donors who have traveled to China, Hong Kong, Macau, Italy, Iran, and South Korea are asked to delay their donation for 28 days, as well as anyone who has been confirmed to have COVID-19, or been in contact with a suspected case of the virus.

New Jersey's first drive-thru coronavirus testing site has been forced to turn people away after reaching full capacity just hours after opening - as health officials in full protective gear tested people in New York and some patients lined up on foot outside a Brooklyn hospital. Hundreds of cars lined up outside New Jersey's first large-scale drive-up testing site at Bergen County Community College in Paramus from 8am on Friday. Health officials had said the drive-up testing facility had the capacity to take in 2,500 specimens a week. But authorities were forced to close off the entrances to the site just four hours after opening due to a surge in demand. Meanwhile in New York, people lined up outside the Brooklyn Hospital Center on Friday to be pre-screened for coronavirus before being allowed inside the facility. In Staten Island, health officials in full protective gear could be seen approaching vehicles at one of its drive-up testing facilities.
