A man shot and killed his wife and five other family members in North Carolina before turning the gun on himself, according to a report Monday. The apparent murder-suicide happened Sunday afternoon in the small quiet town of Moncure. According to a family member, the shooter was 66-year-old Larry Ray. It wasn’t clear how the victims were related to each other. Officials would only say the shooter was among the victims. “Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the victims of this terrible tragedy,” Chatham County Sheriff Mike Roberson said, according to Fox 8 Greensboro. “To lose any family member is devastating, but to lose several at once to unexpected violence is unimaginable. There are no words to describe the sense of loss we feel as a community in the wake of this terrible event.” His office described the area where the shooting happened as a “quiet, close-knit community where violence is out of the norm.”

Americans are starting to panic-buy guns with sales rocketing across the country and shoppers lining up around the block outside hunting shops amid coronavirus fears. California, Nevada, New York and Washington - the states hardest hit by the deadly bug - all saw a massive surge in gun sales. Some buyers sought to 'protect their families' from looters should food and supplies run out due to coronavirus panic. Others feared that the government's emergency powers could restrict their right to buy a gun while some Asian-Americans bought weapons to protect themselves from potential racist attacks.
The world's major airlines are bracing for impact amid the coronavirus outbreak, with United, Delta and Virgin drastically slashing their flight schedule, taking other cost-cutting measures, and storing their large aircraft which will be out of use. The airlines have requested a bailout package from the government, ranging between $45 billion to $65 billion. It comes as industry group, Airlines for America, has estimated that the nation's seven largest airlines will run out of money completely between June and the end of the year. Many of the airlines' wide-body passenger planes will be put into storage while demand is low. The aircraft, which include A330, A350, 767 and 777s, will be stored at Marana in Arizona, and Birmingham, Alabama. Earlier today, United CEO Oscar Munoz and President Scott Kirby sent a letter to the airline's 100,000 employees, which was made public on Sunday, announcing that flight routes will be slashed 50 per cent in April in May.
