BREAKING NEWS! Ten people were injured on Monday after a car plowed into a carnival parade in the western German town of Volkmarsen, police said, adding that the driver had been arrested. Police declined to say if it was an accident or if the driver had deliberately rammed the car into the crowd, Reuters reported. German news website HNA cited witnesses as saying the driver appeared to have deliberately targeted children and had driven into the crowd โat full throttleโ. The incident comes less than a week after a man gunned down 11 people, including himself, in one of the worst racist attacks in Germany since World War Two. Police cars and ambulances rushed to the scene in Volkmarsen, a small town in northern Hesse, 263 miles, 423 km west of Berlin.

The name is given to a future, mysterious pathogen which could break out among humans and wreak havoc across the world. SARS-CoV-2 has infected around 80,000 people in the two months since it emerged at an animal market in Wuhan, China in December. It has killed more than 2,600 and can cause severe lung damage and trigger multiple organ failure, mainly among old or weak patients.
A police dog who was fatally shot while responding to a call out has been honoured with a custom painted casket. The K-9 named Hondo, of Herriman police department, was involved in an operation to apprehend a fugitive in Utah earlier this month when he was shot and killed. The 7-year-old, front-line service dog had been a member of the Herriman City Police Department for five years, after joining in 2015. Herriman police department made a touching statement confirming the death of Hondo. 'It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Herriman Police K9 Hondo, who was killed in the line of duty last night while assisting the U.S. Marshal's Office in apprehending a dangerous fugitive,' a spokesperson said. During his five years of service, Hondo helped with over 100 felony arrests and was ranked one of the best K-9's in the state of Utah. #K9

A thief grabbed a 77-year-old womanโs purse โ dragging her to the ground and sending her flying into a fence โ in an attack that was caught on surveillance video, the NYPD said. The woman was waiting at a bus stop on Cooper Street, near Evergreen Avenue, in Bushwick around 8:50 p.m. when the man approached her from behind and grabbed her purse, police said. The force the man used sent the woman flying to the ground and into a nearby fence, according to police. The man fled with the womanโs purse, which held her wallet, a Bible, glasses and around $20 in cash, the #NYPD said.

A man in Washington state was critically injured Sunday after he was crushed by a large tree that crashed into his living room as high winds created havoc across the Pacific Northwest. A man in his 60's was sleeping on the couch in the living room when the 200-foot tree came crashing down on his apartment, pinning him on the couch. Fire officials said that since the tree was across the man's pelvis, specialized equipment and trained technicians were requested. The man was trapped for about one hour and 40 minutes before crews were able to free him. Photos released by the fire department show the size of the tree that entered the apartment and the complexities involved in the rescue.
